Just three weeks after the twice around the clock classic at Le Mans, the Richard Mille Racing Team heads to Italy, and more specifically to the Autodromo Nazionale di Monza for the fourth of five rounds of the 2020 European Le Mans Series season.

34 cars are entered, including 15 in the LMP2 top-tier category LMP2 for the four-hour Endurance encounter at the ‘’Temple of Speed’’. Just as the title race is heating up, the fiery-red #50 Oreca- Gibson will yet again garner close attention. Currently sixth in the LMP2 general classification, the Richard Mille Racing Team will look to build on its impressive ninth place at the 24 Hours of Le Mans and the growing cohesion in its driver line-up to target its best-ever result while getting closer to the top of the order.

Brimming with confidence after taking the fight to the biggest names in endurance racing, the Colombian, German and Dutch drivers are all quite familiar with Monza from their single-seater days when they competed at the legendary Italian circuit. Serious and diligent in each of their races so far, the three women will also put their increasingly detailed knowledge and Michelin tyres to good use on their nicknamed prototype, “Roxy” !
 

They will nevertheless have to be wary of the tricky, yet fastest, circuit on the ELMS calendar, even though «after Le Mans, the straights at Monza don’t seem quite as long as before, but the hard- braking, low-downforce nature of the Temple of Speed will always challenge the drivers!» as Calderón reminds us after having completed the 24 Hours of Le Mans at an average speed of over 230 kph.

While the slipstream will be among the decisive elements in the ten-minute qualifying session scheduled for early Saturday afternoon, Sunday should offer a somewhat different show. On a track where mistakes are rarely forgiven with the numerous gravel traps lining the track, race craft and fuel consumption will also be key and it could be all the more the case as the weather forecast calls for a risk of rain!

Tatiana Calderón, Sophia Flörsch and Beitske Visser are determined to show that Le Mans was just the tip of the iceberg when it comes to their huge potential and they will try to make the most of all the practice sessions to tackle qualifying and the race in the best possible conditions.
