RICHARD MILLE SUPPORTS THE YOUNG SWISS DRIVER GRÉGOIRE SAUCY
Watchmaking brand Richard Mille will be supporting the young Swiss driver Grégoire Saucy’s 2017 season in Eurocup Formula Renault 2.0. Only 17 years old, Grégoire is on track for a brilliant racing career.
Grégoire caught the motorsport bug very early on. He was three years old when he began driving on the family’s indoor karting circuit in Develier, a stone’s throw away from the Richard Mille workshops.
Thanks to his impressive driving abilities, he earned his license to compete at only seven. The youngest licensed driver in Switzerland at that time, he claimed podium nishes in multiple races in his first-ever karting championship.
Working his way up through karting’s various categories, he found himself in the Swiss KF3 Championships at 13 years old. Despite being unable to participate in all the scheduled races, he managed to nish the championship in 4th place. Two years later, he joined the Swiss senior Rotax® MAX ChallengeTM championship. Once again, he secured a podium place in several races and finished 4th in the overall rankings, all without starting in the full slate of events.
In late 2015, Grégoire undertook his rst tests at the wheel of a Formula Renault 2.0 with Team RC Formula. While still in the midst of discovering the single-seater, Grégoire rounded off his second day by turning in the best time ever achieved on the Chambley circuit with a Formula Renault 2.0, validating his choice to enter the VdeV 2016 in the single-seater category.
This year, the 17-year-old driver has set his sights on a new objective: the Eurocup. Ultra-competitive and extremely challenging, this championship has launched any number of champions, including Alain Prost, Felipe Massa, Valtteri Bottas and Stoffel Vandoorne.
Profoundly linked with motorsports in terms of both its philosophy and the technicity of its productions, the brand has always offered support to talented youngsters with promising careers in the realm of auto racing, a description that ts Grégoire perfectly.
