Richard Mille Boutique - Kuala Lumpur
On 17 May, a new Richard Mille boutique was inaugurated in Kuala Lumpur’s luxurious Mall, the world’s largest shopping centre located in the Bukit Bintang district of the Malaysian capital.
Following in the footsteps of the Grand Hyatt Singapore boutique, this 150 m2 space is the second store to adopt the new RM showroom concept, where brighter colours and subtle lighting are used to enhance each element. «Just as my watches are efficient and uncompromising, no details have been spared in the architecture and purveying of the new Richard Mille boutique experience», explains Richard Mille.
What initially strikes you about this unique place dedicated to superlative watchmaking is its two entrances that open onto the RM world. The first offers a glimpse of a huge glass display case engraved with a three-dimensional Richard Mille watch. The second exploits an exterior facade featuring four integrated curved display cases and a spectacular sculpture by aeronautics experts evoking the mechanisms of the brand’s timepieces.
Other outstanding features of this “new generation” boutique include a watchmaker’s workshop made entirely of glass, a quiet and elegant VIP lounge, and an array of display cabinets designed to showcase the collection’s exceptional pieces.
The inaugural evening began with the traditional ribbon-cutting by Richard Mille, Dave Tan, CEO of Richard Mille Asia, and the famous actress Michelle Yeoh.
The 200 guests were then invited to admire, at their leisure, a selection of watches presented to the public for the very first time, including the RM 022 All Gray Carbon (a limited edition of 5 pieces only available in Asia) and the RM 030 Black Carbon (a limited edition of 50 pieces, engraved with the words “Asia Boutique Exclusive” on the back and created only for the RM boutiques in Singapore and Malaysia), not forgetting the RM 11-01 Roberto Mancini and the RM 39-01 Aviation, two new, highly technical and innovative pieces that joined the collection in 2013.
Finally, music took centre stage at the “Richard Mille Jazz Supper Club” night, featuring Yannick Bovy, a hugely talented new Belgian singer, and DJ Patricia K.
The next day, on Saturday 18 May, Richard Mille’s guests met for lunch and a pétanque competition in the gardens of the Majestic Hotel, where the atmosphere was warm and relaxed.
