ROLAND GARROS 2017: RAFA CLAIMS LA DECIMA IN PARIS !

As the rst time ever that a player claimed a tenth title in the same Grand Slam tournament, Sunday 11 June will remain a historic date not only, of course, for Rafa, but also for the game of tennis and for Roland Garros. This victory by one of Richard Mille’s earliest partners is the fruit of boundless determination and a clear sign of renewed con dence. The bull from Manacor is back !

He was to give no quarter during his two weeks in Paris. Not a single player could withstand him. Now ranked second worldwide behind Andy Murray, Nadal has yielded only 22 games. With an average game time hovering at 1 hour 34 minutes, the Majorcan was not compelled to exhaust his reserves of strength and confronted the Swiss player Stan Wawrinka in the nal match under optimal conditions.

The king of clay as he is known, first crowned in Paris in 2005 at 19-years old, dashed the hopes of his rival in just 3 sets and less than two hours of play. He dominated the match with two formidable weapons: his powerful forehand and his great two-handed backhand.
‘To be back in the nals and to win the Decima is amazing. I’m deeply moved. The feeling is indescribable. Nowhere else do I feel the rush of adrenaline that I get playing here. It’s the most important tournament of my career,’ confessed the player, who shared his victory with a large and loyal crowd assembled for the occasion.

The moment is a historic one for the brand, which has stood alongside the athlete since 2010 and with whom it has developed 4 exceptional pieces that have each earned a place in the story of tennis and of watchmaking: the RM 027 Tourbillon, made of carbon composite and LITAL; the lightest mechanical watch ever created, the RM 27-01 at 18.83g; the RM 27-02 with its unique Carbon TPT® unibody baseplate, and the new RM 27-03, a tourbillon timepiece, able to withstand extreme shocks of 10,000 g’s.

The next stop for Rafael Nadal will be Wimbledon, a tournament he won twice in 2008 and 2010 and he had to skip last year due to an injured wrist. But, following a third Decima for the season, we can safely say that 2017 belongs to Rafa. Vamos!
