Fernando Alonso and Sébastien Buemi dominate at the 2018 24 Hours of le Mans
Richard Mille is pleased to announce the victory of their partners Fernando Alonso and Sébastien Buemi this weekend at the 86th edition of the 24 Hours of Le Mans. At the wheel of the Toyota # 8, they were dominant on the Sarthe circuit to the roaring applause of an enthusiastic crowd.
On Saturday, at 3pm, the 2018 Roland Garros champion, Rafael Nadal, was on the track to officially start the race. 24 hours later, the Toyota # 8 crossed the finish line two laps ahead of the other teams. Alonso and Buemi gave Toyota their first win in 19 starts. This victory is historic for these new legends of Le Mans. Sébastien Buemi becomes the 3rd Swiss driver to win the famous endurance race. ‘It’s incredible! The last laps were hard to watch. I’m still struggling to realize, it will take a little time. But I am very happy’, said the Formula E World Champion. For Fernando Alonso, this performance is simply prodigious for his first time out at Le Mans. The two-time Formula 1 World Champion and now champion of the Sarthe event said: ‘This race is amazing, it’s like I drove two F1 races!’ It’s now up to the Spaniard to win the Indianapolis 500 in order to achieve his goal of winning the Motor Sport Triple Crown, like the master before him, Graham Hill, the only driver so far to have accomplished this challenge.
Richard Mille also supported other teams such as Alex Brundle at TRSM Racing, the Jackie Chan DC Racing who finished 10th in LMP2 and TDS Racing who just missed out on a podium place, finishing fourth in LMP2.
