CHARLES LECLERC, YOUNG PARTNER OF THE SWISS WATCHMAKER, WINS AGAIN IN AUSTRIA

At only 18 years old, the youthful protégé of Nicolas Todt, is favoured to win the 2016 GP3 Championship. And on Saturday the 2nd of July, he claimed victory in the rst race of the Austrian Grand Prix. An ally and sponsor of the young driver and of the ART Grand Prix team, Richard Mille hails this handsome achievement.

Since his early days in karting, Richard Mille has closely followed the adolescent’s progress. Noted for his times, and his speedy quali ers, the driver attracted the watchmaker’s attention and enthusiasm, immediately convincing the brand that it must support his budding talent.

A leader in free practice sessions, Charles picked up his first ever GP3 pole position on Saturday in 1’19’’041. After a shaky start, the Monaco-born driver needed considerable determination to catch up with Ralph Boschung of the Koiranen GP team as well as his ART Grand Prix partner, Alexander Albon. But his technique, precision, and perspicacity placed him ahead of the pack by the 3rd turn. In spite of the pouring rain hammering the Red Bull Ring circuit. The driver, who also won the opening race in Barcelona in May, proved his skill and resolve, claiming the victory by a 2-second margin over Albon and more than 8 over de Vries. As the crowd cheered, the trio on the podium at the Spielberg circuit in Austria made it a sweep for ART Grand Prix.

Alongside ART Grand Prix, Nicolas Todt’s and Frédéric Vasseur’s team, the maison Richard Mille is delighted to be celebrating Charles Leclerc’s first hat trick—pole position, fastest lap overall, and victory in a single grand prix weekend!

Charles Leclerc will make his debut in Formula 1 on the 8th of July during free practice at Silverstone.

He will be driving in the livery of Haas F1 Team, also sponsored by Richard Mille, where brand partner Romain Grosjean is a driver. “I am very proud of the con dence that Haas and Ferrari have shown in me. This is an important step toward my ultimate goal of becoming an F1 driver,” shares Charles Leclerc.

This experiment is scheduled to take place four more times this year: during the Hungarian GP on 22nd July and the German GP on the 29th, as well as at the Malaysian GP on 30th September and the Abu Dhabi GP on 25th November.
